  6. 6     I think that those of you with an ImageWriter II <
  7. :printer will especially enjoy this disk.  There are a few >
  8. <related files from Frank Lowney who shows you how to change >
  9. <the Imagewriter section of the SEG.PR file so when you do a >
  10. <Control-B to send "bold" you instead send an Escape so that =
  11. ;the printer is alerted for printer commands.  Then you can <
  12. :send any command you'd like including color and mousetext ?
  13. =characters.  I've been playing with this for a few weeks and 9
  14. 7am really having fun ( there must be some advantage to <
  15. :running TAWUG - getting first crack at the templates).  I <
  16. :just finished doing a workshop called "Beyond AppleWorks" ;
  17. 9where I showed the use of macros, PROSEL, and AppleWorks 9
  18. 7related software.  My handout was done using colors to >
  19. <highlight points and mousetext in various areas.  It really =
  20. surprised the participants to see what AppleWorks can do.  
  21. ;     I have just begun to play around with PRINTRIX, which :
  22. 8was released in the middle of June.  This is a "desktop =
  23. ;publishing" program that uses AppleWorks files (as well as 9
  24. 7several other word processor programs) to add fonts, 2 9
  25. 7column printouts, and other goodies to your AppleWorks >
  26. <printouts.  I will try to have a full review of the program >
  27. <for you in the July/August issue of 
  28. Home and School Works
  29. as well as the next template disk.
  30. 9     For all of you who teach AppleWorks to students and 5
  31. 3others, I just received a set of books from Arthur <
  32. :Luehrmann.  He is the author of "Hands On BASIC" and this ;
  33. 9set is called AppleWorks A Hands-on guide.  Each book is 8
  34. 6written for each area of AppleWorks, word processing, ?
  35. =database, and spreadsheet.  This is a workbook that students :
  36. 8will use (along with a data disk) to learn AppleWorks.  <
  37. :Again, I have just started to look these 3 books over and ;
  38. 9will write a full review for the next template disk.  It ;
  39. 9appears to be a very simplistic approach - maybe what is $
  40. needed for high school students.  
  41. <     One other bit of news for this disk, I learned earlier =
  42. ;from Chuck Newby, our regional rep in San Diego, that Mark 9
  43. 7Simonsen, of the Software Touch (AutoWorks, FontWorks, 7
  44. 5Program Writer), has purchased Beagle Bros. but that ;
  45. 9Software Touch programs will continue to be supported as 8
  46. 6usual.  It will be interesting to see how MacroWorks, =
  47. ;AutoWorks and Super MacroWorks will be merged.  I upgraded =
  48. ;to SuperMacroWorks based on this information and have just 7
  49. 5started to become familiar with this program.  (I am <
  50. :certainly trying to learn a lot of new stuff lately).  So 9
  51. far I still like the power and simplicity of AutoWorks.
